About us
Miss Forsyth was founded in 1905 by three Forsyth sisters to supply underwear to the ladies of Falkirk which, at that time, was a thriving industrial town situated on the Forth and Clyde canal midway between Glasgow and Edinburgh, heavily dependent on ironfounding and related heavy industry for its prosperity.
The shop was situated in Lint Riggs, a small street off the High Street, specializing in fabric and apparel shops, as suggested by the name.
In the mid 1920's a young trainee was taken on, Miss Baillie, who soon became Manager and eventually bought the business from the remaining Miss Forsyth in 1957.
Miss Baillie married and became Mrs Kingston and ran the business successfully until retiring and selling it to Jennifer Moodie in 1986.
Jennifer renovated the shop premises, whilst still retaining the very distinctive features of the original shop which exist to this day.
Business continued to prosper, mainly through the constant commitment to customer satisfaction and service, and in 1995 Jennifer brought in her daughter Sarah as a Partner and a year later in 1996 a second shop was opened at 27 South Street in the beautiful 'fair city' of Perth on the banks of the River Tay.
Since opening in Perth the customer base of satisfied ladies has expanded many fold and customers come from all over Scotland to be fitted for the bra of their choice.
The premises at Perth are much larger than those at Falkirk and it is from there that the online shopping catalogue is being operated.
The core of the business is our staff who are trained and dedicated to offering a service which is all too rarely found nowadays.
In Perth we have our full-timer Jennifer Scott and part-timers Carol, Lyn, Heather and Beverley and in Falkirk part-timers Pat, Margaret, Carole, Sandra and lrene.
